[CLOSED] 701 Torex T1 screws - wanted for rebuild

#1 Post by adj » Thu May 23, 2013 3:34 am

Hello,

Would anyone be able to help me obtain a set of the 4 tiny screws from the front of a 701?

Mine have stripped and are stopping me completing the rebuild of my venerable 701c.

It is of sentimental value to me, because John Karidis, the designer of the Butterfly keyboard, was a work colleague of mine.

I am open to any offers that you might have.

According to the Hardware Manual (pages 161 and 162, type BF), those are M1 x 3mm screws, which need a Torx T1 screwdriver.
This website has them with Phillips head: http://www.hawk-rc.net/index.php?route= ... uct_id=326
These UK websites have them with Slotted head:

Here's a thread with more info about the 701c: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=75526

Thank you for the most helpful reply.

I have managed to get a set of original 701 screws, although I went down the remote control Helicopter route and found some Phillips head M1x3 screws as a backup.

The thread (pun not intended!!) you pointed me at was interesting, particularly since I used to work in IBM Development.

Best wishes,
Alan
