Any 555BJ or 330C in the forum?

#1 Post by jack_zhan » Wed Jun 19, 2013 7:33 am

Just saw two vintage thinkpads for sale in the local market. A 555BJ(the one with bubble jet printer) and a 330C(the non-black one). Both in working condition and at the same price, CN¥680, i.e. about $110. Saving money now...not enough spare money now :(

Both rare machines....I have tried searching for either of them in the forum but got nothing.

Which do you want to see most? I am waiting for the advice from you all about which one to buy first :P

Both of course! But I see thinkwiki.org has no pictures of the 330C so I'm voting for it

I wished I could get both too! However I have only less than CN¥400 on my credit card now, and I am only a student working part-time, so I still need some time to gather enough money to buy the first one. :( It seems few local people have interest in those things, so let's wish I could buy both before one of them is sold. :)

P.S. I noticed the 330C page is totally blank...here is some specifications I found about the one being sold:

5523-JJW
IBM 486SLC2 50Mhz processor
4MB RAM standard, one slot, 12MB max
340MB IDE hard disk
1 Type I/II PCMCIA slot
Built-in non-removable 3.5" floppy drive
9.5 in TFT mono LCD

I'll look for a picture for the page on Japanese websites.

Bad news friends :(

I am sorry to say that, but my 701C had its entire LCD assembly broken off during recent use, so I must work on repairing it now. The previous owner/maintenance crew used glue to repair a crack near the left hinge, and excessive glue went into the hinge, therefore jamming the hinge and leaving it constantly damaging the bezel and the top cover  . Now finally the entire upper part is broken off  .

So in order to repair the 701C, with cracked top cover and bezel, a bad hinge, and a top system board with two battery contacts lost, I need to use my money to buy a "for parts" 701CS I recently found on the Internet. When I finish repairing and get enough money again maybe both the 330C and the 555BJ are no longer there :(

Jack-Zhan,

Is the 555BJ still there?

Does it have an HDD installed?

If YES, then please send me a PM.

Best wishes,
ADJ

The PM has stayed in the outbox for too long for me. So I post it here.
Hello adj,

GOOD NEWS!!! I have bought the 555BJ!!

And YES, it has a hdd installed. A IBM-H2344-A4D 344MB hard disk.

The machine have some problems. I have sent a request to Lenovo Japan for service documents.
EDIT: The hdd interface looks like an SCSI.
