Help Mod: CrashCart

#1 Post by CuppaMac » Sat Sep 07, 2013 7:13 pm

I have a few aging Thinkpads (R32/T42/T43).

I've seen these LCD (LVDS) panel to DVI/VGA adapters on eBay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Compatible-R-RM ... 3f274560a2

AND I've seen examples of Thinkpad external keyboards that have the same interface as the laptop

Sorry for the title, I'm not building a crashcart, but it's the same thing. My Dad's aging R40 that never goes anywhere needs a refresh (XP is dying next year :(...).

I'd like to rip out the guts and hook it up to a desktop, leaving the LCD/Keyboard intact. It sits on a little bookstand next to his chair and he closes it when he's done for his coffee mug/etc. It doesn't travel.

I'd love to get a controller board from one of these Thinkpad external keyboards. See if it'd work. I know there's two sizes of plugs on these.

Love to have some insight on what others think.

Craig
