You will need the MWAVE drivers for the Modem.

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... COR-3AKHSL

Name of the files are MWAVEW9A.EXE .. MWAVEW9C.EXE
Modem should be set to com 2.

You'll need a pcmcia card -- either a modem or ethernet card, depending on your needs. The 755CS had neither built-in. Make sure it's not a cardbus card, that machine won't support it.

Pcmcia

Yes Sean, I was afraid of that. I Have a Pcmcia memory card coming and was planning on a USB card for the other slot. The help menue sorta imply's that the serial connector somehow can be used for a modem connection but I don't know the specific's of that or the type connector that's supposed to be used. Thank's for your input. JD

That's probably referring to an external modem, which in ages gone by would be connected to your system by a serial cable.
