I am clearing out some space, and will be parting with a working condition Thinkpad 701c with the 'butterfly' keyboard. It dual boots into Win98/Win95/3.1 from 'system commander' software (as I seem to recall). It is marked "Type 2630-5TU" with a serial # starting with "78-" and some canadian flag sticker on the bottom of it. It came to me in a whole system package in a old "General Electric" company computer case.

It boots successfully into all those operating systems, has what appears to be the original hard drive, and is in full working condition with power supply and a docking station bar that plugs into the back. It also has a rather large plug in floppy drive that came in the case with the whole package back when I got it.

Two non-functional batteries also are part of the package, and both have mild corrosion and would need to be rebuilt. The computer is very clean except for a spot underneath where the battery goes in- a bit of paint is blistered on the bottom by the battery due to the corroded battery. I cannot be certain it works under battery power at this point since I dont have a functional one, but it used to work on battery power when I got it, and it still works perfect with AC power connected.

Could someone give be a general idea of what would be a fair value for the entire package?

Depending on a slew of small (but important) factors such as condition of BIOS battery, RAM installed, overall shape etc. I'd say $100-175 from a serious buyer.

There is a 701C on Ebay right now. The bidding has gotten to over $200.
