I don't know about a USB wifi stick. The USB hardware is really early stuff (definitely not USB 2.0). My 390X does work with two PCMCIA cards: a Lucent Wavelan Gold and a D-Link WNA-2330. I'm running Debian Wheezy. I hope that's helpful.

I had a USB WiFi adapter that I used with my 390X. It was connected to the computer through a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card. It worked great.
