380XD keyboard removal

I'm trying to remove the keyboard from my 380XD, but I'm stuck. I'm following the ThinkPad 380XD/385XD HMM and I can't get past the step, where I have to pull the assembly towards me (step 7, page 67, I did 1010, 1020 and the first 5 steps from 1040). It won't move and I don't want to apply to much for to not destroy it. Any hints what am I doing wrong?
