replacement for little clock battery on 600

#1 Post by syrenab » Mon Mar 31, 2014 2:50 pm

My friend has been using my old 600 for years for email and reading old fules on dikettes.

The clock is running slower and slower, so the little battery needs replacing.
Can anyone tell me the part number and where to get it?

The backup (aka CMOS) battery for the 600-series is FRU 02K6502. Dozens can be found for a few bucks on eBay, however be sure that the auction has clear picture(s) showing the connector. There's a couple of different designs that can look the same if you simply glance over them. See this:

You want to one in the middle.

If you are able to solder - just buy simple CR2025 Lithium Battery, cut off wires from dead laptop battery and solder them to CR2025 by help of orthophosphoric acid or active flux(do it fast to avoid battery overheat). Clean off acid/flux, put some insulating tape.
It takes 5mins :)
