IPS 390?

#1 Post by DRobinson » Wed Apr 09, 2014 2:53 pm

So, I have a broken X41 tablet with a good screen that I have been meaning to get use from. I have an X31 that I was considering using the screen in, but have recently come into a very nice 390 example. They are both 12.1" screens, but I may have to mess with the wiring a bit.

Has anyone tried something like this before?
IBM T20 (2647-86U) - 900MHz/512MB - 2x8GB CF - Atheros AR5413 mini-pci - #! IBM T23 - 16GB CF - #!
IBM T42 (2373-JTU) - 1.7GHz/1GB - HM160HC IBM 560x - 233MHz/96MB IBM 701c
Lenovo T601 (8897/2007) - T9300 - 4GB - 32GB SSD - Xubuntu 14.04

Two things that might pose an issue...

a) I haven't touched a 390 in a zillion years, but from my recollection its lid might not be deep enough to accept the tablet LCD

b) Inverter...I'm not quite sure how I'd go about this. Probably by sticking an entire LCD assembly - presuming that the connections match - onto a 390 board.

c) BIOS might bark at you. Or it might not. Sheer guess on my part.

Good luck and please keep us posted.
