Hi there, Hope somone can help. My 600e will not charge either the main battery or the spacesaver although it runs fine off the mains. The batteries are both quite newIs this the charging circuit?? Can it be easily checked? Are there any parts that are known to fail?
Many thanks for giving your time to read this.
Kind regards,

If you look at the battery connecter on the battery. You will see five slots but only four have contacts in them. The two centermost contacts "talk" to the battery circuitry (the hump on the battery covers a circuit board). The one to the right is the + battery connection (marked on the battery) and the one to the left -. I'd check to see if there is voltage between the + and - leads in the computer with it plugged in. Well, I'm not positive that will work though. The circuit board keeps the battery from overcharging, so it has to turn power on/off somehow.

Do you know anyone else with a TP 600/e/x? If their computer will charge your battery it's your computer's DC/DC power supply that's bad. You can replace the PS (maybe it's just a loose wire/connection?) or get an external battery charger for the main battery (you would want to pick up an extra AC adapter too, the ext. charger uses the main computer adapter) . That won't help the battery in the slimbay though.

Thanks, but I hope that I don't have to change the motherboard!
