Hey all you pros. Help with a few 600E questions

I have a 600E with xppro installed. it works wonderfully. i built my thinkpad from scratch. I recently installed a P3 600MHz cpu. (only reads 500) 
I Did the bios tweaks. but when i play dvd's, it skips and crap, every 30 seconds.
any one know how to enable the L2 cache?
any help would rock.
