I won 600E thinkpad from ebay and didn't realize they were MMC2 PII module motherboard design only. I wanted 600 with MMC1 module motherboard so to get a Pentium MMX model. So the question is if I get 600 motherboard with all the goodies in a base case and swap everything from 600E (keyboard, keyboard bezel etc and LCD providing that 600 motherboard is correct LCD size from 600E? Already had looked into HMM on this but I'm not sure and the part numbers are outdated.

The goal is an 600 with pentium mmx built. I already have T23 and pair of A21m so do not need extra PII's.

Cheers, Jason

Both the 600E and 600X use the PII MMC-2 modules, yes.

Does the MMX and the PIIs share the MMC-1 connector/module, and are they compatible? I have always believed that the MMX was a different animal than the PII MMC-1, but I might be wrong.

Sorry for not having any input to your main question. I know that the 600X has some basic differences, as it has a Mini-PCI slot, but not sure about the 600/600E compatibility.

Yes, 600 with PMMX can be successfuly upgraged to PII with increasing max RAM support from 256mb to 416mb

Once again, the question is can I swap out 600E motherboard for 600 motherboard and Pentium MMX module and all 600E parts? As long as screen size is same or 13" and 13.3"?, not 12.1"?
