Collectors Ultimate Dream Thinkpad

#1 Post by Khipata » Wed Apr 01, 2015 10:54 pm

Hello fellow Thinkpadders! :)
What Thinkpad model do you consider ULTIMATE dream for Thinkpad collector, vintage or otherwise?
You can name at least 3 or more models, because choices are so hard! I would greatly appreciate your input!

As for myself, that would be this one here:

http://blog.lenovo.com/en/blog/richard- ... d-keyboard

Number 2 - MONOLITH (prototype)

http://www.basterfield.com/pc110/history.htm

Number 3- 700T in working condition with stylus and battery.
Number 4 - 701DS fully upgraded.

Thanks everyone in advance! :)

Personally I'd love to have just a 701C, but since you said I could choose three... :D

...a G41 and an A31p are also on the list.

A lot of the ones I thought would be my "ultimate" collectibles just kinda drifted at me like nothing... My 701C came at a ridiculous deal, my A31p was advertised as busted on ebay for ~$20, but turned out to just have a deseated RAM module, and a forum member was VERY kind as to offer his X24 at an incredibly generous price. The G41 and Ti-lid Z61p I put together myself, but they were quite easier than I made them out to be.

I suppose an "ultimate collectible" that I'd love to have would be the Transnote. Another would be that i1124 that pianowizard mentioned. Seeing photos of that thing- with the silvery textured lid, and him explaining it's basically a 240 with an XGA(not an SVGA) screen, that's just got "cool" written all over it for me. I'd absolutely love to just see one for myself...
Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...

and yes. I am a bit of a lunatic.

ThinkPad 850, TransNote, 701C.

Two notable mentions would be that one thinkpad which has the keyboard that tilts up when the lid is opened, and the other one with the translucent screen for displaying with projectors (one of the few thinkpads I don't own, but I haven't been scouring ebay and I don't own a projector).

and the other one with the translucent screen for displaying with projectors
