I contacted him through his ebay email & told him my situation. He said that I could use a 500 mhz systemboard on my laptop. It has a 659 mhz with speedstep. I was told that if I installed a regular thinkpad 500 mhz systemboard that my speedstep just wouldn't work & that it would just run full speed at 650. GO FIGURE. I'm going to bid on one soon on ebay. There are tons of those on there. Just not many 650 boards with speedstep. Thanks for the info. If you are intrested, read the replay to my other post about 600x motherboard. Later!

I don't think this information is accurate. If you use a motherboard from a 500MHz model (assuming that it will fit, and you can install it okay), then your SpeedStep CPU will run at its lower speed by default (500MHz), not its highest speed (650MHz).

This is what bhtooefer says in your other thread about the 600x systemboard and I think bhtoofer is correct.

Phil.
