Source for Thinkpad hinge covers?

Good afternoon,

I'm looking into acquiring one or two Thinkpads. Both have broken hinge covers, not the actual screen hinges, just the black covers going over the screen hinges. Is there a source for these? Alternately, and this is a SUPER long shot, are there dimensions on them available for the various models? I ask because I could then CAD and 3D print up a replacement.

Many thanks,

Bob

You are missing some VERY important information. What system(s) are we talking about? Once this question has been answered, I will move this thread into the appropriate category. And I don't believe any such pieces like this will have any documentation (available in public anyway) that lists their dimensions for 3D printing.

It looks like 1171 refers to 1300, 1330 and 1370 model types. The Hardware Maintenance Manual lists a couple of different FRUs for the Hinge Cap Asm. You could post a WTB (Want To Buy) here in the Marketplace forum or do an eBay or Google search using the FRU number. If you are adept at copying an existing item by making some measurements (or laser scanning) and creating a 3D drawing suitable for printing, you might be able to borrow one from a member. I don't know how many people out there still have an 1171 system but given the age, it can't be too many. You also have a PM from me on a related subject.
