600 that I have does not have LCD expansion setting in bios, which DOS and windows utility to use to do this?

Second, do there is a software to install on the PCMCIA/cardbus with compact flash adapter to make 600 boot from this properly? Bios does have this in boot order as well but does not work even the card is set up to boot which I did on an old computer with IDE controller.

Cheers, thinkpadcollection

Fn-F8 should work as it is the standard key combination on machines of this era (600, 380, 390, 570, and maybe others) to control LCD expansion ;)

I've had machines be picky about CF cards (such as brands, partition alignment, etc.) before... I've had one card boot on a 560X but fail on a 560E, I suppose if it doesn't work try another brand/size

The ThinkPad Configuration Utility for DOS or for Windows have the settings for screen expansion.
For the DOS one I think the command is

Code: Select all

ps2 hvexpansion on|off
The Fn-F8 key combo previously mentioned is a easier way, but I figured I'd chime in for the sake of completeness.
