Hello Gals and Lads,

the time has come when I shall put some radio transmitter into the room of my 1-year-old baby. And this led me to an question - which of the vintage thinkpads had an best audio system installed in it? As far as I know A31p which i do own had/have superior speakers complared to any other laptop. But is there anything (ThinkPad branded) better than that you may know and I don't? I'd be grateful for any input in this case.

The only other thinkpads with good audio are the X300/X301, by far. The speakers have a great upper and mid section with OK bass and uses a better audio chip than other thinkpads. The X301 uses SU9400/SU9600 cpus and are still enough for most basic tasks including web browsing, streaming 1080p videos, email, and word processing.

A31p and X301 are the way to go. The 385XD also has a good audio system with a mini subwoofer. The 600X has potential, if only its speakers actually had an enclosure!

The last ThinkPad witha decent DAC was the X301. The last ThinkPad with a good DAC was arguably the T43. The ThinkPad with the best DAC is the A31p.

The A31p is superior in every way when it comes to audio.

First of all thanks for quick response and all advices so far. Second of all there's an obvious mistake in my first post - I ment radio receiver not and transmitter . A31p sound quality is really great indeed I just needed to know if there's anything better than this.
