Battery hatch on 701 is too small

#1 Post by calvinb » Thu Aug 04, 2016 6:54 am

I'm trying to remove the small wrapped-up button battery (is that the CMOS one? there's a lot of batteries in this system) on my 701cs via the hatch (under the audio ports) and it's too small, and keeps catching on large components inside the machine. Is it possible to remove it, or did IBM put it on there to screw with people?

Alright, I had managed to get it out with pliers. It's a bit tight in there though, as I was careful not to damage the inductors. The 701 is now back in the same state it was before, and less worry about a leaky battery for me.
