Hello to all,
I have an opportunity to buy this external floppy drive :
http://www.recycledgoods.com/ibm-66g506 ... d-760.html
I would like to be sure it will be compatible with my Thinkpad 310ED (I know the connector format will be good according to thinkwiki)
Can anyone confirm this before i buy it ?
Thanks in advance

Believe it will work if the connectors are the same, but be advised that there is a similar Toshiba connector that will NOT work on 310/755/760 (may damage either the laptop or the drive if used)

Thanks for your answer
Yeah, i read about the Toshiba connector. That's why i want to stay with IBM Floppy drives

i MIGHT have a few IBM external floppy drives with my vast supply of legacy thinkpads..
might also be limited to the 755 and 701 series thinkpad connectors..

I said yes to the guy, but i am interested if you have a look, incase the one i will receive won't be compatible.
But no hurry of course...

Trust me, I'm the reason that information is on ThinkWiki. The IBM cable shorts one of the pins Toshiba uses to ground (blowing the fuse on a Toshiba notebook,) so I'm sure the reverse probably has some things shorted that shouldn't be.

I've been trying to find a floppy for my 701C, could you check?

Well... The connector is the same but...
I'm not sure if it's the thinkpad or floppy fault, but the drive don't even power on.
I found a pdf from IBM which seems to imply that this enclosure is not compatible with the TP310ED:

I'm surprised as i thought the connector would be the major hurdle. I'm a bit reluctant to buy another internal drive (the ref is TEAC FD-05HG, 688-U) to swap it and find if it's the floppy drive fault or an incompatibility
