Things to do with new 701c?

#1 Post by Cooler22 » Wed Jul 26, 2017 11:46 am

Hello everyone, wanted to know what I should work on my new 701c. I have read around I should change the CMOS as soon as possible, but is there anything else in specific I need to look out for? Anything to beware of when disassembling? Thanks in advance.

Remember, there are 2 batterys, standby and CMOS. Try and get a working battery for it. Replace the HDD with a CF cars or DOM. Male sure the mech is nice and maybe should lube it of needed. Get a floppy drive or if you have a Dock 1 or 2, get the adapter kit off eBay. Put on Windows 95, drivers, and get to town playing Doom.

Good Luck!

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Thanks! I fortunately already have the floppy drive with cable from a friend who used to have a thinkpad collection (even an 850), but do Dock II provide any benefit over the replicator?

Yes Dock II will allow you to have a CD drive.

You could always load up a copy of the preload cd, of which there should be some links to (thanks to me, and from me, thanks to someone off the original ThinkPad email list back in the late 90s). I want to say only the 486DX4 image has OS/2, but I could be mistaken.
