Thinkpad 570E LCD testing

#1 Post by Thinkpad4by3 » Sun Aug 20, 2017 12:52 pm

I found the LCD screen from my old 570E. I would like to see if it still works. Can I plug it into a newer machine like a T410 or will its LED driver fry it? Is there a machine that can test it safely?
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

You probably need something of a similar age as the 570E.

T410 won't work since it's LED backlit, which means it doesn't have an inverter for the 570E's CCFL. Cable also won't fit.

I had an HP XE3 laptop once (early Pentium III), the connector on the back of the LCD panel is bigger than the one in a T43.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons
