760EL/ESS 1688 sound card + OS/2 Warp 4

I've spent about 2 hours unsuccessfully trying to get OS/2 Warp 4 with the latest Fixpack (15 I think) to work with the ES1688 sound card. I have a 760ED, but I swapped sound cards with a 760EL parts unit (because we all know the mwave sucks). Well, I see why I made the switch from OS/2 to Windows 2000 when I got my hands on beta 3 and RC2 - OS/2 sucks as well. With that said, I'm still trying to get this working, as I'd like to use various games on my 760.

Just trying to see if anyone else had to struggle with this problem. Mwave isn't an option, because I'd be playing some DOS games as well, and the 1688 has native Soundblaster emulation in DOS. I installed the latest driver, which appears to be 2.0.8, but OS/2 reports that the driver wasn't loaded, with no explanation why.

And... I figured out the solution, after spending about 2-3 hours on the above problem: install OS/2 Warp 4 convenience pack 2, using the default 1688 driver (not detected). Problem solved!
