Here is my new 600E I purchased from Neil in the Marketplace.

On Thursday I received the ThinkPad 600E that I purchased from Neil. 366MHz Pentium II, 160MB RAM, 6GB hard drive. I am very pleased with the condition for an 18 year old laptop. This was manufactured September 1999. I loaded Windows 98 (Windows 98 takes up less than a GB of hard drive space). I upgraded the RAM with 512MB low density (2 x 256MB) which I had in storage to make it more response running software. This laptop has 32MB soldered onboard, which makes the total 544MB.

I also applied Pledge which does a good job of lubricating the rubber and plastic that the ThinkPads are made with. I mentioned this a couple years ago in another thread in this forum.

That Thinkpad will serve you well. Great condition unlike many of those machines. Any plans for a 600X speedstep 850MHz upgrade ? That thing could be a speed demon !

EDIT: Works like a charm, thanks. Also you can clean the cat tongue eraser head with an old toothbrush + soap or toothpaste. Will remove the grime and dirt on it

I think I should mention that you can obtain a DVD-ROM/CD-RW burner on a 600 series computer if you port such a drive in the factor of ultrabay 2000/plus and switch its plastic bezels

Instead of the outdated M$ Paint, may I suggest to use Irfanview for editing pictures?
With a click of the button it can change the pic-size for you.
(After which you can please resize/swap that monstrous picture for a more practical ~800x600).

The old 600E looks much better in those super sized pictures that it did under my desk gathering dust. Years ago, it was getting almost daily use, but for the past two or three years, I doubt that it was booted more than a couple of times a year...if that.

Hi everyone, I finally got around to resizing these photos correctly, I have just been very busy. I use FrontPage to maintain my pages, and I found by double-clicking on the photos allows you to select the correct size and ratio without distortion.

The sizes are now correct on both my 600E and T23 pages. Enjoy:
