700C not booting

#1 Post by 700Colorado » Wed Mar 28, 2018 10:14 pm

I recently tried to boot my 700C after it had been shutdown for several years. The boot process fails with a 17400 code, which is a bad configuration. The system utility runs and allows me to edit the configuration yet fails to boot from hard disk or the floppy. The time was only off by 10 minutes. I'm not sure what the next step is.

What happens if you pull the CMOS battery to reset everything?

Pulling the CMOS battery did not change the behavior, I still get the the 17400 error code.

I hate asking this as this may be a dumb question (that others may frown upon me asking)...

But does the laptop retain the configuration settings after it is powered down and power is removed? If so, is the CMOS battery good?

I doubt the battery is still good but the one in my 755CDV is just fien so its possible. And yes it will but the clock will reset. Don't worry about asking stupid questions here, we will be happy to answer :D .

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

The battery wasn't good but in the meantime the 700C won't power on at all. I can hear a faint 'ticking sound'.
