365XD RAM limit

#1 Post by LarBob » Sat Apr 07, 2018 10:38 am

Does anyone know if the 365XD is supposed to be capped at 40 MB RAM? I took a 64 MB module that was working in a 365X and the 365XD still only recognizes 40 MB of RAM. Thanks.

Yes. The official limit for the 365X/XD is 32mb in the SODIMM slot (plus the 8mb of onboard RAM).

I can't remember for sure, but I think I might have had to update the BIOS on that 365X to get the 64mb stick working, which compounds your problem if you haven't been able to perform the BIOS update. I know that I had to update the BIOS for some reason. That was back in the days when I still had a barely functional battery.

Strange to say, but the most practical solution to both the BIOS update problem and the RAM issue may be to move that motherboard over to your original unit.
