Power jack deteriorating

#1 Post by emf » Sun Jun 26, 2005 1:16 am

I have a problem with the power jack that is getting worse: When put the plug in I have to move it around until it makes the correct contact. Is the problem with the power jack itself, and if so could you suggest what I need and where I can find it. Or.could it be something else?

I checked the internet, and I found 3 different power jacks for the model...
And somehow I couldn't see the power jack in the diagram in the hardware maintenance manual...

Thanks,

Hi,

I just had a similar problem with an i-series ( the acer made 2611-412).

I took the laptop apart and re-solder the connection between the power jack and the main board. the laptop is ok again.
Somewhere here i found a post where someone actually installed a new power jack.

Check the faq on where to download the official IBM manual for taking your system apart.

maybe this helps,

regards
