760cd salvage

Three years ago I managed to not have my thinkpad protected from a lightning strike to the phone system. 
The good news was the hard drive and cd drive survived fine and worked in my 755cd backup machine, I quickly bought another 760cd off ebay. 
Question is what other parts might still work? When I hook up the wall adapter it is stone dead. Today I removed the built in modem and its still dead. I don't have a good battery to test things that way.
