ibm thinkpad 701c // no screen image

#1 Post by VetalRacer » Wed Oct 31, 2018 7:15 am

Good day, friends! Sorry for my English language :)
I'm buy ibm thinkpad 701c and tried to turn on... He turned out to be fully working! I was very happy!
The next day I took a laptop with me to work without a charger. When I came home and tried to turn it on - no screen image or occasionally a white stripe appears in the middle of the monitor. :(
I checked the plugs of the plume, the connectors of the boards ... the problem persists :(

Please tell me what could be the problem?
P.S. The laptop turns on I hear errors 161 and 163, after hdd works

thanks

Sounds like a bad screen or cable. I suspect screen. Does it work on external monitor? Can you send pics?

Unfortunately I do not have dock station - I can not check the output image to an external monitor.. Which free resource upload photos in order not to violate the rules of the forum?

Upload your image to imgur, then you can select medium thumbnail. If you cannot find the medium thumbnail button, copy the image from imgur directly to get "abcxyz.jpg" and rename it to "abcxyzm.jpg" Just add an "M" right after the filename before the JPG and it will be automatically resized to meet the forum requirements.

Smart....you checked the rules before hand. Gotta give it to you VetalRacer, that rarely happens. :thumbs-UP:

Thank! I do not want to cause problems to forum users, I always read the rules :)

Usually the effect is like in the first photo and sometimes as in photo two... and in two attempts - slowly filling the screen with white (there is video), I do not understand what could happen with a laptop, I have experience with repair, soldering station, but I do not know where to start and what is the reason for the breakdown :( :( :(

I'd like to restore Ibm 701c so that it would take the top of my collection thinkpads :)

Sounds like a bad lcd. Would you be willing to take the bezel off and give me a picture of the back of the screen? Risky procedure. Also, contact forum member hwattys

This will not be a problem. :) I have analyzed the laptop to check the loop connections. I will take a photo after work :)
What can help in solving my problem hwattys? What question to ask him?

Hi, friends! I think I found the cause of the malfunction... not 100% sure, I broke the trail already in process inspection :) I hope I am not mistaken and the problem is really in it! :)

That ribbon cable being broken will surely do it! If you have a soldering iron, you MIGHT be able to reflow the joint back together. Lets others see that they think before you do that. What you might want to do is put pressure on that cable and see if any signs of a picture come back.

PS..nice X200 photobomb
