Source for ThinkPad 760 power AC adapters
Does anyone know of a source for obtaining the recommended OEM 20v 2.5A power supplies for the IBM ThinkPad 760? I won two of these laptops on eBay (760E and 760XD) and I am not expecting the adapters to be included. There are knockoffs on eBay but I would prefer to have the original. In lieu of that, will a 16V 3.36A from a ThinkPad 600 suffice?
EDIT: I don't think the 600 charger would work because I believe the 1996 machines have a 4 pin design into the back of the laptop unit.

I've seen I think 0.1" headers used to connect and then you can find a 5.5mm barrel jack or whatever the 600 charger is and make a little adapter. I can check how it fits next week.

Thanks for the info. Due to the age and rarity of these machines, I'll be on the hunt for something official. It might take time but I'm sure something will pop up here or on eBay. I'm not sure if your solution requires hacking, and I don't want to risk ruining these machines trying to find out.

RBS
The machine calls for 20V at 2.5A, those are 16V.

I've seen those machine runs on as low as 12. In the realm of power circuitry, the difference between 16 and 20 is negligible.

Show me where you found this false 20V "recommendation"!
That's only good if you want to burn the motherboards!
Time to do your homework!
All those 760 models run from 16V/2.2A with 4-pin female DC-connectors.

Re: Source for ThinkPad 760 power AC adapters
Every 760 model in the tpvol3.pdf HMM only mentions 16V/2.2A (=35W) adapters.
Occasionally a 50W version is also mentioned, but I never saw any P/N or FRU for those.
PS: you should change that HUGE picture into a link, it is WAY too big!
Please read the Forum Rules, especially Section 5: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=14339

My TP 755 says 20V on the bottom and 16V at the port.

Re: Source for ThinkPad 760 power AC adapters
Thinkwiki indicates quite a few models around that time that say 20V 2.5A on the machine but 35W (16V 2.2A PN 76H0119) in documentation.

Hi RBS, I just fixed that into a link. I originally clicked the picture icon in the toolbar (IMG) and when I submitted the post it turned it into a photo.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:30 pmEvery 760 model in the tpvol3.pdf HMM only mentions 16V/2.2A (=35W) adapters.
