Reloading a 600E hard disk

#1 Post by jcrowley » Fri Jul 01, 2005 8:24 am

I had to get a new (refurbished) hard disk for my 600E. I loaded Win98 but I can't get Windows to recognize the 600E configuration -- it gives me a display of 16 colors and 640x480 and Ican't change it. I've downloaded the Thinkpad Configuration, the Display driver, and the win98 Supplemental disk and followed instructions (I think) on all of them, and I can't get my beautiful screen back! ANy hints? Would it help (now that I have combined Win98 and the Supplemental disk files as instructed) if I uninstalled 98 before reloading it? Any ides?

I bought a 600E without an OS. Win 98SE was installed from a CD (generic copy). I then installed all the drivers directly from my hard drive (I bought a USB network connector and go on-line first). I didn't combine anything.

Don't know if this is what you want to know or not, but worked for me. I don't know if the screen will be what you had before, but it's definitely an improvement over the standard Win98 drivers.
