I had an external floppy and an internal CD drive.
I insert the recovery diskette in the floppy following the instructions in the user guide and I get the following messages in the display:

Starting PC DOS...
IBM RAMDrive version 3.10 virtual disk C:
Disk size: 4000k
Sector size: 512 bytes

Directory entries: 160

IBM IDE CD-ROM Driver Version 3.10
Copyright (C) IBM Corp. 1994, 1995, 1996 All rights reserved
Device Name................IBMCD001

Them the laptop hang. I tried to deppress any keys without
sucess. Any ideas? What I'm doing wrong?
I run the test and everything looks OK except that
the two CD-ROM Icons are grey.
I tried to inser the IBM CD Recovery in the drive and nothing happen.

Try taking the CD drive out of the machine, then putting it back in. Then go into the bios, and click the initialize button. Shut down, go back into the bios, and see if you can test the cdrom drive.

With the original I get the same original problem.
With the one that I created from downloading I got further.
I got the following messages:
1.- IBM IDE CD-Rom Driver installed
2.- Language -- English
3.-Recovery info.....
4.-Preload Recovery.....
5.-How to reset recovery process...
6.- Recovery limitations.....
after I depress enter I get two entries
1.- Donot continue with recovery exit to DOS
2.- Continue wit recovery
I select 2 and I get the following display:
1.- Do not continue with recovery exit to DOS ( if I select this option I got to The DOS A: prompt,
2.- Use Existing partitioning and format c: ( I get ERRORERROR)
3.- Factory default partitioning and format all drives ( the laptop rebbot and Display A:
At this point I'm lost do not know what to do. Any ideas????
Please help.
