Repairing inverter?

#1 Post by Thinkpad4by3 » Sat May 11, 2019 2:37 pm

I know this isn't specifically a TP question but it has parts that apply to TP machines so I'd figure I'd see if I could get an answer.

I have a TI Travelmate machine, another one. It has a bad inverter, it whines really bad and it powers on the display dimly for about a second then shuts off the backlight. I used a different inverter and it worked a treat so the CCFL is fine and the inverter is weak/bad. I can't get another inverter for this machine. Does anyone know what generally goes wrong when an inverter fails and what to replace?
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.
