Looking for IBM 770 Recovery Media

#1 Post by jamiecruickshank » Mon Jul 22, 2019 11:25 pm

Hi,
I have tried my best to search and I couldn't find anything in more recent threads.

I have an IBM Thinkpad 770 and I have installed Windows 98 and all the drivers, however I am looking for an ISO of the original install.
I have installed the extra IBM DVD Card and would love to have the original software for it all.

If anyone would be willing to upload a copy for me, I would appreciate it. I am even willing to pay something for your time.

I have found a copy on archive.org, however this is the German version.

I hope you have a great day,

Jamie

Is this the one you found? There are both 770 and 770x disk images.

Hi,

Yeah, this is the one I had found. I managed to get it onto the PC. The 770 is a German Windows 95 and the 770X is a German Windows 98.

Thanks for the link though,
Jamie

If you happen to come across a set, I'd be thrilled if you'd be willing to share it so I can add it to my recovery set repository. Completely voluntary through - I understand if you'd rather not. :)

I do have what appears to be US English set for 770X, W98, if you want to try that.

If I ever come across them, I will be more than happy to share.

If you wouldn't mind sharing the 770X disks for WIN98 that would be awesome. It might be close enough to load.
Even if the Laptop doesn't boot the disks, I have found you can extract them and copy to the HDD directly.

This is the command I have found

Code: Select all

D:\RECOVERY\US\PKUNZIP.EXE -sxwbdbgmlbu -$ -d -JHSR -o C*.IMZ C:\
If you could PM the link, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
Jamie
