Help Identify 701C TSB Mods? *WARNING: PICS*

#1 Post by LouieWinthorpe » Sun Jan 26, 2020 2:45 pm

Hi All,

I recently bought a 701C to restore and work on. Upon disassembly, I noticed some sort of modification to the top board that so far I have not seen anywhere else. At the moment, all I get is the power on green light, and nothing else. I checked the disk in my working 701CS which boots with Windows 95.

Any ideas on these modifications? Is this board a lost cause? The second photo is pulling off the YAMAHA YAC516-E, not sure on the first.

That very well could have been made during the assembly stage. It's not uncommon for a design change to come in after a board has been produced or is being created. To save the money already spent on manufacturing, they will still use the board, but will incorporate a physical bypass or fix into that production run.
