ok i found the type number on my BIOS screen. So for my next problem I dont have a working battery and the BIOS update software wont let me update my BIOS without a working battery. Does anyone know how I can get around this?

Thanks

My new battery hadn't arrived yet when I did my bios update, so I followed a suggestion from one of the other threads here to place my old, dead battery in a plastic bag to protect against condensation then popped it into the freezer overnight.

I was able to get a 40% charge into it the next day before it crapped out again and that was enough to allow the flash program to finish the update.

There is a way to make a boot diskette and copy certain files from the update diskette, then rename them to force an upgrade, but I think that sounds awfully risky myself. If you search this forum a little you will find the thread that describes how.
