Transnote questions
I recently picked up 2 Transnotes for a pretty good price.
They should have arrived soon, and Ill be able to evaluate the issues with the systems. So far it looks like one may be missing a battery, but its unclear.
Questions:
Is the charger the same as those from T4x? It looks the same as the port on my T43p.
How hard would it be to source a battery for one of these if one is missing?
How good is XP driver support? I know that the Windows 2000 install is available through the work of theterminator93 here at the forum marketplace if XP isnt an option.
I cant seem to find ink refills for the pen, do you need the IBM-branded one?
What are some upgrade paths for the machine? I cant find any documentation beyond RAM and ROM options, along with the usual IBM external accessories.
Thanks!

Re: Transnote questions
Yes, it is the same 16V charger used by most IBM era ThinkPads.
A few years back some folks claimed to have NOS batteries for sale, but they were pricey. I am not sure if there are any out there anymore. I'm sure someone here would have something though.
I would be surprised if XP didn't work fairly well, considering how similar it is to 2000 under the hood. I can't speak to that personally though.
There may be some pen refills in the small storage compartments on the ink pad base. At least, there were some in mine. Old post say they can be bought from Cross but I wasn't able to find a product page with the part numbers listed.
Upgraeability is limited. It's essentially an X20, so you'll be limited to 640 MB RAM with the one DIMM slot, and whatever you can stuff into the IDE bay.

Re: Transnote questions
The transnote.info site was largely useless as buddy made you pay for the drivers and software.
I've already posted all of the drivers publicly for free: http://www.ibmfiles.com/pages/transnote.htm
(probably what rendered his site redundant and he let it die, no more cash cow money)
XP support should be fine as IBM already created dedicated XP drivers. Just install it and try it out.

Re: Transnote questions
Just got them both working. Massive thanks for the availability of restore media through the forum, I could not have gotten them working without that. One had some pretty serious liquid damage, but I was able to save the board and leather bits. Only remains is discoloration on the VGA port.
As a side note, does anyone know any way to source a PDF of the getting started guide? I cant seem to find it online. I have one, but it was soaked at some point, so I cant photocopy it to reprint new ones.
Thanks!

Re: Transnote questions
Ah I never realized I was missing those docs on the site.
The HMM is here: https://thinkpads.com/support/hmm/hmm_pdf/22p2932.pdf
Service and troubleshooting guide here: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/mobiles/12p1416.pdf
Port extender user's guide here: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/options/transp.pdf
I'll try to hunt down the other documents later, I'm pretty sure I have a good physical copy of the 'getting started' guide that I could scan -- but all of my computers and everything are boxed up (and will be so for a few months probably).
Actually yeah I do have one of the getting started guides in mint shape, same black/green book as pictured here: https://i.redd.it/6rflq6u63bm41.jpg
Yeah, I'll definitely try to get it scanned and stuff if no digital copies exist (and mirror all of the other scattered documents). RBS also gave me more documents/drivers that need to be uploaded as well. Can't give a solid timeline but we'll say hopefully in 2~3 months.

Re: Transnote questions
Late response, but yes.
They cant boot from USB, so you need to burn floppies and use the floppy drive that connects to the dock port, but otherwise it was simple. An alternative is to have the latest BIOS which supports USB boot.

Hi All
I am new to the community and just wanted to ask, how rare is a left handed 2675?

Re: Transnote questions
Welcome to the forum!
Fairly rare. They do exist, but I've never owned one. Whether that fact is enough to command a premium price I can't say.

Re: Transnote questions
Thanks George,
I have one, it's been in a cupboard for many years but started first time today. The battery is dead but I think it is the original.
Looking a bit the worse for wear externally but it even has the pen and manual.
I stopped using it when I go my first x60
