Extracting preloaded software from a recovery Iso
Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to extract selected software from a recovery Iso?
Thinkpad 365, 560, and 760 were made the same year so they share similar preloaded software: compuserve, puma tranxit, etc...
I have obtained a recovery ISO for a 760. When I try to extract diskettes folder of preoloaded software I found that I cant extract .DSK files. Does anyone know how to extract those .dsk files?
Thank you.
albert.

I don't have the ThinkPad's or recovery media in front of me, but I do recall extracting everything before. The CD's from that time seemed to create a couple of RAM disks and mounted the physical hard drive under a different letter than "C:". Also some of the install media was looking for the text string "IBM" in the BIOS to allow password protected compressed files to be "unzipped".

Hi, thank you for your reply, but I'm talking about the original recovery cd, not about your own safety copy.

In the old OS/2 days, IBM created two DOS programs (LOADDSKF.EXE/SAVEDSKF.EXE) to copy diskette images to diskette and back. Using file extension .dsk
I believe they are available from the old IBM pccbbs.
I think that the format is raw - that is - sector by sector from the floppy disk.

You would use loaddskf to "load"the .dsk file TO the disk(ette). Savedskf for the other way around.
OK who know where to find these two, especially savedskf?

Hi Gang
I've got about a dozen copies archived somewhere, but I was too lazy to dig them out,
so I found 'em online here....
http://ftpmirror.your.org/pub/misc/ftp. ... /loaddskf/
If they don't work, post back and I'll host a copy of eash
Regards.
