I recently got my hands on a Thinkpad 340 which works but needs some TLC.
The good... It boots, HDD works fine, floppy works fine, keyboard etc works fine.
The bad... The LCD polarizer is damaged, the PCMCIA does not work, the battery leaked.
For now I want to sort out the PCMCIA. The bios throws up an error (i think 8081) and PCMCIA slot is dead. I can get past the error but still no PCMCIA. I looked inside the PCMCIA slot and see some blue in there which looks like it came from the battery. The battery contacts on the laptop dont look too bad but it must have travelled through.
I cannot find any guides to open it up so I can clean the corrosion. Has anyone ever taken one apart ?
