D-Link PCMCIA card issue on 760EL

#1 Post by poohdoggie » Wed Aug 25, 2021 6:46 pm

Folks,

I have not done a major amount of research but I was gifted a 760EL and have Win98SE loaded. I bought a D-Link DFE-690TXD CardBus PC card and tried to install it. The system sees the card and installs drivers but it won't assign a IRQ for it and the error is about a BIOS setting. Any ideas? I have disabled things I will not be using like settings for a dock or the Infrared but it still will not get resources assigned.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

There is a command-line tool (PS2.EXE) that's used to configure various Thinkpad settings, the Cardbus PCI IRQ included. Can't remember the details as it's been more than a decade since I last had a 760 series Thinkpad.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons
