PC110 CF Card Image?

#1 Post by solidpro » Sun Nov 21, 2021 1:01 pm

Hi Everyone

I recently shared an image of a factory restored 701C but I am now working on a PC110.

Display is a dead loss, but I do have it working via a port replicator and an external monitor.

However I have no flash card or know where to start with restoring it. I think this was built to run Win95 and I've seen some custom IBM menu system for it. Does anyone know where I can get these original installers, or would anyone be kind enough to share a CF card image of a restored machine?

Thanks!

Hi Solidpro

Thanks for the great resources on archive

I can't find my pc110 floppy drive, any chance you could make a small CF card image with the original dos7 and at some utils like sys so I can restore the internal 4mb? The other files I can load from extracts of the images, but I've been complete unsuccessful with generating working bootable CF card from the restore disks

Thanks either way

Hey Matrx

Sure I could do it. I think I did do it..... let me check the archive.org stuff I posted... All you'd need is for it to be bootable and then you can copy over what else you need in a CF reader...

From distant memory have you made sure it's set to boot from the correct hard drive in the BIOS? I think there are 2/3 available and you need to make sure they're in the right over, otherwise it boots from the built-in storage...

Thanks!

I accidentally sys'd the internal drive with win95. It boots but it isn't great -- my bootable backups all depend on the floppy drive which i can't find. If it's not too much trouble, it'd be great. If not, I can build one in a VM.

What size CF card? The max I have is 8Gb. I can use my floppy to just make it bootable to Dos7 or whatever and image it....

I don't think the size makes much difference, something small can ususally be written to a larger medium with wasted space

If I can squeeze in the time tomorrow, I'll do it. I am about to go away for a week on Wednesday but can and will do it for you if I don't make it tomorrow.

In going over my various PC110s I've remembered that one of mine has a keyboard with a ribbon cable that has split in 2 (I think caused by a leaking battery). I don't suppose you have a spare keyboard!?

cheers
