Do anyone know if the CPU in this particular model series is BGA or socketed PGA?

I don't think BGA versions of the 486 exist. The closest I can think of are QFP (quad flat pack), like the one below:

I'd reckon the 360CS would use this rather than a socketed CPU.

Yes, you are right. I excavated a lot of sites and finally found that it is QFP (someone had a few images of the planars next to each other - but i can't find that image again unfortunately).
