IBM (Ricoh) Thinkpad 220...

#1 Post by solidpro » Thu Sep 22, 2022 5:08 am

Hi

I've got a pretty-battered Thinkpad 220. It's quite far gone but am investigating how recoverable it is...

LCD

The LCD is a bit odd as it is a small black and white screen which has virtually no make or model numbers. Written down the side is "Made In Japan" and "KL6448V" - which turns up *nothing* on google. Does anyone know anything more about this screen? Mine is working but damaged..

There is a CCFL across the top which does not light up. I measured the output from the inverter and it's providing 3.5v AC to the CCFL lamp. Is this in any way correct? Does anyone know what it should be?

In addition to this, I don't have a battery, which isn't surprising but it does leave an annoying gap across the front. By any long shot does anyone have a battery, in any condition, which I could use to strip down to a case to make the outside 'look' complete?

The power switch is missing. It's a surface switch a bit like on the PC110....

I'll do a separate port for anyone with a broken or spare parts, but wondered if anyone had any knowledge of the 220 issues above?

Thanks
