Troubleshooting non-booting 530cs - with video

#1 Post by solidpro » Fri Jan 13, 2023 6:20 am

Hey all

I have a 530cs machine which won't boot. It *does* power up, and the HDD does seem to try to start, but nothing displays on the internal LCD nor an external SVGA monitor.

I have done some basics - removed the main battery, replaced the CMOS battery with a working one, removed the RAM stick and still nothing.

I did a short video of what it does do: https://youtube.com/shorts/fgc0VQSCTJU

One long beep and then silence and then a shorter, higher beep.

I think I have only a few options right now - dismantle and change capacitors, where possible and check fuses, where possible. Anyone else got any ideas?

No HMM for this machine it seems......

Thanks!
