Thinkpads-filter/MTM for legacy Thinkpads
Thinkpads-filter/MTM for legacy Thinkpads
I was searching since long ago for an equivalent to the 'thinkpads-filter.xlsx' (same as MTM search) - but for Legacy Thinkpads.
Have long since come to the conclusion that such a thing no longer/doesn't exists.
The idea resurfaced when I got a 760EL and could not look it up on model No. in the withdrawn book. So I started wondering how close I can get to making my own.
Found listings like these on ps-2.kev009:
http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/caaa.htm
This one is for all 760xx and 765xx Thinkpads
A deeper search for the 'Model listings' pages and have so far turned up lists for the following series:
310xx,315xx,340xx,345xx,355xx,360xx,365xx,701xx,750xx,755xx,760xx,765xx
Links:
310xx,315xx: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/e906.htm
340xx,345xx: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/4fa2.htm
355xx,360xx: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/fe4a.htm
365xx : http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/a4c2.htm
701xx : http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/d1f6.htm
750xx,755xx: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/4e12.htm
760xx,765xx: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/caaa.htm
So a couple of questions:
- Anyone have a feel for how "complete" these listings are?
- Would any of you happen to have or know of more of these listings?
I intend to append these to my own thinkpads-filter excel sheet, so I have converted it into that formatting here if anyone wants a copy:

Re: Thinkpads-filter/MTM for legacy Thinkpads
I think an MTM-lookup for legacy-machines is overdoing it.
Have a look at this: Thinkpad Specifications Reference
Most of the Legacy-info you really need, plus quite a few newer Thinkpad-series.
And quite a bit of info here: https://psref.lenovo.com/WithdrawnBook
Scroll down to, and click on: +Withdrawn IBM Product Books (no future updates)
where you will find these PDFs:
IBM ThinkPad A, T, and X Series; 2000 to 2005 (withdrawn models) (1.27MB)
IBM ThinkPad R Series; 2001 to 2005 (withdrawn models) (680KB)
IBM ThinkPad; 1992 to 2001 (withdrawn models) (1.13MB)
IBM ThinkPad i Series; 1998 to 2002 (withdrawn models) (397KB)

RBS, you are technically correct - the best kind of correct.
In my defense, obsession usually isn't logical
Thanks for the link to the 'Thinkpad Specifications Referenceø - I didn't have that in my bookmarks. A handy little cheat sheet.
As for the withdrawn books. Rain man has the his phone books - I have the withdrawn books
Still: Any more of these 'Model Listings' pages are welcome

Re: Thinkpads-filter/MTM for legacy Thinkpads
I had tried to make an MTM sort of spreadsheet, so I could find specific ThinkPads on ebay (5:4 770, UXGA T4x, SXGA+ T2x/T30, etc), but it took too much time.
Etryu's page is pretty nice, but it is missing some things. I went into a rabbit hole for that and it became too much to do... However with that said, thanks for the spreadsheet, I will make use of it!

The lists you were trying to make, I assume they are for identifying all the specific models that have those screens?
I don’t have any listings for the the 770 series, but assuming IBM labeled these screens consistantly in the thinkpads-filter description column, I wouldnt think it would be too hard to create those lists for the T4x,T2x and T30 (just a bit of excel work)?
Edit: just did a sub-listing of T4x/p for UXGA for fun .. 770 results - ouch! Vast majority are T42p

Yes, I have a few spreadsheets.
That link is for finding IPS displays for T4x to T6x, as well as a few others.

Re: Thinkpads-filter/MTM for legacy Thinkpads
Did a sheet for all T4x/p
Added filters for resolutions, GPUs and laptop size as there are a lot of (too many) results for just UXGA
It's not perfect - I see some spelling errors in IBMs original, but hey - IMO it's still pretty good for lookups
