701c stiff mushy keyboard

#1 Post by nicefisher » Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:45 am

I've been working on my 701c recently, soldering a new cmos battery, cleaning contacts, etc. And one major problem is the keyboard - it feels kind of mushy and stiff. I read that this just happens with age due to the membrane mechanism, but is there a way I can make it less stiff/mushy? I really want to like it but I just can't right now

It sounds more like a well-worn (heavily-used) keyboard than anything.

Maybe replace the membranes?
