Hi, folks!
This is my first posting to thinkpads.com!
I just got an old 600X (2645-4EU) from eBay. It all started when, a few months ago, I visited a friend and she had a Thinkpad... It was love at first sight.
After that I knew I had to get my hands on one of these babies...
Now that my dream's come true, I want to make this machine fly! What would be the ideal memory setup to run XP (Pro SP2??)?
Thanks,
Joao

Two PC100 lo-density 256MB SO-DIMMs added to the 64MB that's already on the MB will max the unit out at 576MB.

Add a 7K60 HD to the mix and the 600X will rival many newer, faster machines.

James

Have a 600x 2645-8eu with 320 ram running win98se.
Would like to upgrade the HD and install XP.
I installed latest bios. You suggested a Hitachi 7200 drive. I was going to go with a 5,400. Will the 7k make that much of a difference?

Thanks

The performance increase going from a 4200 to 7200rpm drive is -very- noticable. If money is tight, then get -at least- a 5400rpm drive, but try for the 7200, you wont be disappointed!
