570E lid hinges need to be tightened

#1 Post by MichaelT » Thu Jul 28, 2005 10:08 am

Is there an easy way to tighten the lid hinges on a 570E? The lid has taken on the annoying habit of falling backwards unless I place it "just right".

I've tried to remove the bezel but without success. I didn't want to force it's removal from the bottom of the screen without asking for some advice. Is this how to get to the lid hinges so they can be tightened?

Thanks in advance for any help.

They need to be replaced, there's no way to tighten them.

Is the replacement of the hinges a difficult task? Does it need to be done at a repair facility or could it be something I can do? (I know which end of a screw driver to use, most of the time).

Replacing the hinges isn't an insurmountable task but it does require disassembling the display.

Get the HMM for your system: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4793QA and have a look at the instructions for taking it apart.
