Replacing my 570E

#1 Post by MichaelT » Thu Jul 28, 2005 10:15 am

I'm thinking about replacing my 570E. It's time for something a little faster, a little longer battery life, a little brighter screen, a couple more USB ports, you get the idea.

My budget is directing me to T23's, which seem to be about $500 on eBay with PIII 1.13GHz, 512MB, 30GB, DVD/CD-ROM, etc. Is this a good upgrade from the 570E? I use the laptop when I travel for email, accessing some files, light image viewing, in short nothing too demanding. The critical items are light weight (5# max), quick bootup as sometimes I'm checking emails when time is short, and a brighter screen than my 570E.

Any advice is appricated. Thanks.

Just remember with most any used laptop you're going to need a new battery, so that is another $50 or so. Also, focus on what you can't replace: screen, graphics, mobo. You can always swap out the harddrive or optical drive later, or add memory at a later date.
