Two 530Cs machines so close to working...

#1 Post by solidpro » Mon Aug 18, 2025 1:17 pm

When a reasonably cheap 530Cs turns up, I will often buy it, even though they have several age-related issues. I have loads of spares and mostly good bits but my two motherboards have what appears to be the same fault - they will both power on, LED showing normal sequences but no beep and nothing visual. I am suspecting they're hanging on startup.

The HDD will spin up also.

I have checked all the fuses. I'm not quite capable of measuring voltages at the IC level, which is where I think this troubleshooting is now. Such a shame because i've got all the bits to make two good ones, if only I could get these motherboards to do something. I know it's almost useless, but does anyone have any other ideas?

I tried with an without memory. I tried with and without keyboard attached. Obviously I have tried both internal and external video outputs.

I guess the only other thing to say is if someone is after spares for their 'almost complete' 530Cs, I have some decent spares now.

cheers
