4 Questions about TP 600x (HDD, TV-Out, OpenGL, CPU)

#1 Post by mordoch » Sat Jun 26, 2004 11:20 am

Hi all,

i have 3 questions about the TP600x (2645-4EG). I could not find any answers elsewhere...

1) Does the Graphiccard support OpenGL? Do I need special drivers perhaps?

2) What Harddiscs are supported? Does the board support UDMA-66? Is there a size limit?

3) What Video-Out-Module do I need? Is it equal to the 600E's one?

4) Am I right about this: The 600x supports MMC2-CPU's (Intel Pentium III) up to 800MHz with a FSB of 100MHz?

 I hope thats too much for my first post ;)
Thanks in advance,
grz

Not sure.

Anything presently available.

If you mean which TV-Out card, there's a separate one for the 600X series.

Yes, except the max processor in an MMC-2 module is a PIII 850MHz.

(BTW, that's 4 questions! But there's no extra charge. )

If so, what about this one: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... eName=WD2V

Thanks a lot for your quick answers!

Ja.

Ja, das geht, aber es wahr fur den 600E. The newer one for the 600X series is: 10L1352.

Let me know if you need one of the TV-out cables, I've got a few extra.

To the best of my rather meager knowledge, all 600x machines came with the Neomagic MagicGraph256ZX. This chip has no opengl support. It is not a 3d hardware accelerator.... not a gaming chip at all.

You answered to my harddisk-question:

i bought a 30gb samsung HD, but it only runs on UDMA-33...

i'm using windows xp, and tried to install the intel chipset drivers. but they did not install, saying there's no need to update chipset drivers.

can s.o. help me?

thx

wrt your disk ...

JHEM was correct in that you can use any hard drive in the Thinkpad 600X, but it only recognizes UDMA-33. Much like SCSI, the IDE drives operate at the lowest common denominator so the fancy drive works at the pedestrian speed of the computer.

Hope this helps.

Ok, thx...
i was just a little confused as JHEM answered 'yes' to my question, if UDMA-5 is _supported_. That's why i thought the 600X is capable of the UDMA-5 mode.
It works fine with my new Harddisk (Samsung MP0302H), though it's in UDMA-2 mode.

System summary tools like 'SiSoft Sandra' or 'Aida32' report UDMA-4 as the highest possible mode. I suggest thats not correct after what you said?

I'm sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand what i try to say ;)
